Content/Moderation Policy
RateMyUnits helps students choose better. To keep it fair and legal, please follow these rules.
Our Guidelines
- Focus on the unit, not people. Discuss materials, assessments, workload, difficulty, and support. Do not name or attack staff or students.
- Be specific and constructive. Give examples (e.g., "Weekly quizzes aligned with lectures").
- No personal information (PII). Never include names, emails, IDs, phone numbers, or screenshots with PII.
- No hate, harassment, or threats. Content targeting protected categories or inciting harm is removed.
- Truthful and fair. Don't present rumours as facts; avoid defamatory language.
- Original content only. Don't paste copyrighted/private material.
- One experience per review. No duplicates or brigading.
- Moderation & takedowns. We may redact, reject, or remove content. You can flag a review for review.
What belongs in a good review
- Workload (hours/week) and assessment structure
- Clarity of materials and alignment of lectures/exams
- Availability of support/resources (labs, forums, consults)
- What you'd do differently next time
What doesn't belong
- Names or identifying details of staff/students
- Accusations about individuals or off-topic rants
- Private documents, chats, or links with PII

Review Process & Moderation
All reviews submitted to RateMyUnits go through a moderation process before being published. Our team reviews each submission to ensure it meets our community guidelines.
Reviews that violate these guidelines will be rejected. This includes reviews that name individuals, contain personal information, include hateful content, or fail to focus on the unit itself.
